Choong Moo has 30 movements. Choong Moo was the given name
of the great Admiral Yi Sun Sin of the Yi Dynasty. He was
reputed to have invented the first armoured battleship (Kobukson)
which was the precursor of the present day submarine in 1592
A.D. the reason this pattern ends with a left hand attack
is to symbolise his regrettable death, having no chance to
show his unrestrained potentiality, which was checked by his
forced reservation of his loyalty to the king. |

Notes on eligibility towards taking
your black belt examination
Black belt is possibly one of the most important examinations
you will undertake in Taekwon-do. Not only does it represent
the acquisition of required basic knowledge, but an understanding
that you are crossing the threshold of martial arts training
& as such a black belt attitude & mindset are vitally
important.
Being a good black belt is more than simply knowing your
techniques, refining & understanding what you know is
imperative, the correct attitude towards training, teaching
& behaving are very important. Black belt represents a
lot, especially a black belt from this Academy, as such the
following guidelines are in place:
1.The completion of 2nd kup grading
2.Regular training at 1st kup for a minimum of 6 months
3.Completion of the necessary requirements regarding teaching
ability (i.e. Tour of duty)
4.Assessment by your instructor
5.Completion of a written paper (once eligibility has been
established)
6.Invitation to grade
7.Students may have to attend pre-grading sessions
Following the above criteria being met, students will be
invited to grade by their instructor at the next available
black belt grading. They should not request it, as not only
is this attitude improper but it may cause upset & offence
if the request is denied. Simply, you will grade when you
are ready!
