Notes on eligibility towards taking your 2nd Degree
black belt examination
Being a good black belt is more than simply knowing your techniques,
being good at sparring or competition etc., as refining &
understanding what you know is imperative, the correct attitude
towards training, teaching & behaving are very important.
Black belt represents a lot, third degree is seen as moving
away from lower black belt grades and is the step just before
'Expert' level and as such held in high regard by many. Certainly
it is the highest of the novice black belt levels, so following
guidelines are in place to ensure you have covered all bases
on your route to 3rd degree:
1.The completion all colour belt gradings, and 1st Degree
grading.
2.Regular training at 2nd Degree for a minimum of 3 years
with a minimum of 600 credits and 300 teaching hours under
your belt (both children & adult classes).
3.Completion of the necessary requirements (see above for
criteria)
4.Assessment by your instructor
5.Invitation to grade
6.Students may have to attend pre-grading sessions
Following the above criteria being met, students will be
invited to grade by their instructor at the next available
black belt grading. They should not request it, as not only
is this attitude improper but it may cause upset & offence
if the request is denied. Simply, you will grade when you
are ready! |
