Taekwon-do Academy is a brand new club which started in May 2008.
Its an independent school of Taekwon-do that sticks to the original
I.T.F. syllabus of Taekwon-do.
We go beyond
the range of standard Taekwon-do syllabus of Patterns, sparring
and destruction, so by the time the student achieves their 1st Degree
black belt they will be well versed in full scope of self defence.
The academy does not just teach the standard Taekwon-do syllabus
which is taught by other schools large and small, the student of
the academy will learn other essential areas of Taekwon-do which
include:
• Pattern
interpretation (patterns contain strikes, locks, throws &
pressure point techniques),
• Pattern application (teaching the correct methods of applying
the techniques found within the patterns)
• Street smart self defence
• Sweeping & throwing
• Wrist, arm & leg locks
• Chokes
• Strangles & vertical grappling
• Throwing techniques & (although not part of the original
syllabus) ground fighting techniques
As the student
goes from 10th Kup-White belt to 1st Degree Black Belt they will
become skilled in all areas listed above
